CARLISLE, N.Y. (WNYT) – Police are investigating alleged animal cruelty after more than 70 animals had been removed from a property in Carlisle this weekend.

On July 24, the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report in regards to the welfare of animals at a residence in Carlisle. Police say deputies discovered a number of puppies struggling from extreme medical circumstances. According to police, three critically sick puppies had been taken to Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham for emergency therapy.
On July 25, deputies returned to the residence with representatives from a number of animal shelters and the Town of Carlisle Dog Control to proceed investigating. Police say further puppies had been present in essential situation earlier than acquiring a search warrant for the property.
Police say the search resulted in a number of further animals requiring medical consideration. According to officers, 78 animals had been removed from the property in whole, together with 17 surrendered puppies, 12 seized canine, 9 seized cats, 31 seized birds, 5 seized chickens and 4 seized horses.
