Prime Video has launched the primary trailer for “Blade Runner 2099,” marking the return of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi franchise 9 years after the movie “Blade Runner 2049.”
Starring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh and “Euphoria” breakout star Hunter Schafer as its leads, “Blade Runner 2099” is a restricted sequence going down after the occasions of each the unique “Blade Runner” and the “2049” sequel. Denis Villeneuve’s “2049” continued Scott’s story with unique star Harrison Ford again as protagonist Rick Deckard and Ryan Gosling because the replicant blade runner named Okay.
In “2099,” Yeoh performs Olwen, a replicant grappling with the top of her life, whereas Schafer performs Cora, a human who’s on the run from Blade Runners. In the trailer, we see Olwen and Cora staff up in the struggle between replicants and people. As the cinematic involves an in depth, Olwen tells Cora, “The old world forever fights to come back. Humans want what was taken from them. But it’s our time now.”
The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star is joined by sequence regulars Dimitri Abold (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”) and Lewis Gribben (“Somewhere Boy”). Recurring visitor star roles embrace Katelyn Rose Downey (“The Nun II”), Daniel Rigby (“Renegade Nell”), Johnny Harris (“A Gentleman In Moscow”), Amy Lennox (“Only Child”), Sheila Atim (“The Woman King”) and Matthew Needham (“House of the Dragon”).
“Blade Runner 2099” was largely shot in Czech Republic at Prague’s Barrandov Studios, with further manufacturing additionally going down in Barcelona. Film United dealt with manufacturing in Prague.
Silka Luisa, identified for her work on “Shining Girls,” serves as showrunner and govt producer. Ridley Scott, who directed the unique “Blade Runner,” will govt produce together with David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger of Scott Free Productions. Jonathan van Tulleken, identified for helming two episodes of “Shōgun” and “Dope Thief,” is ready to direct the primary two episodes.
