First footage of Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan released: See trailer

Jeff Daniels plays Ronald Reagan in “The Brink of War,” which is because of open in theaters in August.

A trailer for the movie reveals Daniels as the previous president, and it chronicles the 1986 assembly between Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, who’s performed by Jared Harris.

Daniels’ fellow Metro Detroiter J.Okay. Simmons stars as George Shultz, who held a Cabinet place with the Reagan administration.

The movie was originally titled “Reykjavík,” after the Icelandic metropolis which hosted the Reagan-Gorbachev assembly.

The movie was shot in 2024 in Reykjavíokay, and Daniels advised The News previous to taking pictures that he studied tapes of Reagan on YouTube, studying the rhythms and cadence of his voice. He mentioned he made a one-hour recording of Reagan doing numerous interviews, which he would hearken to on loop on his headphones whereas driving his bicycle round Chelsea.
