Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will step down from the Trump administration to take a job within the personal sector, in line with a press release posted Monday by White House communications director Steven Cheung.
“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the Administration to take a position in the private sector. She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives,” Cheung stated.
Keith Sonderling will serve as performing secretary of the Department of Labor, Cheung added.

Chavez-DeRemer’s temporary tenure has been one marked by turmoil as she’s come underneath inner investigation following complaints inside the division about her conduct. The New York Times beforehand reported that her husband had been banned from the department’s headquarters amid sexual assault allegations. A legal investigation into that matter has been closed.
In March, two of her high aides had been forced out amid an investigation into misconduct on the company, the Times reported.
