Former Louisville football quarterback Browning Nagle has died, the college introduced on Friday in a social media publish.
Nagle, who performed quarterback for the Cardinals from 1989-1991, was 57 years previous.
“We are saddened by the passing of Browning Nagle, former Fiesta Bowl MVP quarterback and Louisville great,” the X post from the UofL football account said. “His leadership on the field and passion for the game left a lasting mark on our program. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and teammates during this difficult time.”
Nagle, who switch to UofL from West Virginia, led the Cardinals to a 34-7 win over Alabama within the 1991 Fiesta Bowl. The Florida native completed his faculty profession with 4,653 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. He was chosen within the second spherical of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
Nagle spent 5 years within the NFL, which included a cease with the Indianapolis Colts (1994) and Atlanta Falcons (1996).
