Both soaps will air on ITV1 on Easter Sunday

Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale will air tonight (Sunday, April 5) in a schedule shake-up on ITV1. The soaps normally air in their separate time slots each week evening, however followers sadly missed out on Tuesday’s instalments this week due to soccer protection. Therefore, ITV has scheduled in an episode of every cleaning soap tonight to make up for the lacking broadcast earlier this week.
Soap followers missed out on the drama in Yorkshire as well as in Weatherfield due to sports activities protection on ITV1 on Tuesday (March 31). The broadcast of England vs Japan began at 7pm, prepared for a 7.45pm kick-off-time stay from Wembley.
The protection ended at 10.05pm, which meant Coronation Street and Emmerdale had been taken off the schedule.
However, viewers can be happy to know they will not fall quick this week. Easter Sunday has simply acquired a bit brighter as ITV has scheduled episodes of each soaps to air tonight as an alternative.
Emmerdale airs on the earlier time of 7pm, adopted by Coronation Street at 7.30pm.
It is not the primary time this has occurred, as both soaps also aired last Sunday after cancellations earlier in the week.
Fans weren’t proud of the choice to take away Coronation Street and Emmerdale from their schedules and many took to social media to specific their opinions.
One stated: “So fed up of Corrie being taken off air for football, especially at the height of a big storyline” whereas a second stated: “So annoying when Corrie is moved for football.”
A 3rd stated: “With all the extra channels nowadays surely they could just put the soaps on one of them instead of not being on at all every time some sport is on.”
A fourth stated: “ITV actually wants to have a channel known as ITVSports” whereas one other added: “Surely just upload on ITVX? Then we can watch anytime.”
Thankfully, the soaps are again in their regular schedules this week.
Emmerdale airs Monday-Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
