Kylie Minogue pulled an epic prank on her followers.
The singer, 57, shared a behind-the-scenes take a look at how she managed to persuade her followers that she was dropping a shock EP as an April Fool’s Day prank.
Minogue mentioned in an April 1 Instagram publish that she was impressed by a video of Will Ferrell, as his Anchorman character Ron Burgendy, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2019.
During the televised look, Ferrell was requested to call his favourite songs by the Australian popstar and he listed three songs that don’t exist: “Take Me to the River,” “Hot Air Balloon for Two” and “Sydney Nights.”

“I was laughing at this clip and then the idea just hit me. I thought, ‘Wait, this could be fun.’ So I mocked up a whole EP and got team Kylie to repost the clip, just to plant the seed. Then I dropped a little teaser on my story,” Minogue defined within the video.
The singer shared a publish to her Instagram Stories that gave the impression to be a blurry black-and-white EP cowl with the caption, “Midnight.” She later posted a transparent photograph of the faux cowl, titled “Hot Air Balloon for Two,” together with a hyperlink to purchase the alleged mission.
“New EP out now,” the singer wrote on the publish.
The subsequent publish featured a monitor record that consisted of the three songs Ferrell named on the speak present. However, the hyperlink to purchase the EP directed to the YouTube video for her 1992 hit, “What Kind Of Fool (Heard All That Before).”

“Oh, my God, this absolutely sent me. You know, I love you all really,” she mentioned to her followers.
“Okay okay Lovers I owe you one for that April Fools Fun,” Minogue captioned her publish. “High five @teamkylie ✋ And shoutout to Ron & @jimmyfallon for all the lolz 😂😂😂 BUT WAIT … why were you all actually READY for it?! 👀 The energy??? The commitment??? I’m impressed 🥹🥹🥹 LOVE YOU FOR REAL❤️.”
The Grammy winner managed to trick a number of of her followers along with her prank. One fan even declared on X, “kylie minogue wins april fools.”
Another claimed they “rescheduled a work meeting so I could be ready to purchase the EP as soon as it opened.”
“You did us dirty! But, for real, when are we getting new music?!” a 3rd commented on her Instagram publish.
Minogue has launched 17 studio albums, beginning with 1988’s Kylie. Her hit songs embody “I Should Be So Lucky,” “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” and “Padam Padam,” amongst others. “I quite like an indie-folk playlist, just something that’s quite mellow and tuneful. I mean, I didn’t give myself this moniker, but the ‘Indie Kylie’ period, I think there’s something to be explored with a little seasoning,” Minogue mentioned on the time.
