Sky News Australia introduced it is going to rebrand as News24 in late 2026 after Sky opted not to renew a licensing settlement that allowed the Australian channel to use the Sky title.

The News Corp Australia-owned broadcaster introduced the brand new title throughout a thirtieth anniversary occasion at its new broadcast heart in Surry Hills, Sydney, which was formally opened by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns.

Sky News Australia has operated below the Sky model since its launch on Feb. 19, 1996, initially as a three way partnership between BSkyB, Seven Network and Publishing and Broadcasting Limited.

News Corp Australia acquired full possession of the channel in 2016.

Following the sale of Sky UK to Comcast, the Australian channel continued to use the Sky News branding below a licensing association. That settlement is not going to be prolonged, prompting the transfer to a brand new id.

The firm mentioned the transition to News24 marks the top of the licensing deal and displays its technique to place the community as a standalone, multiplatform information enterprise with a rising worldwide digital viewers.

The title change comes as questions have emerged about potential trademark conflicts.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation holds the trademark for “ABC News 24,” the previous title of its 24-hour information channel. The title can also be utilized by News24, a South African information outlet owned by Media24. 

Along with the brand new model, News24 has up to date its broadcast facility in Sydney with new studios and management rooms, which can debut later in 2026.
