A major police response is ongoing in Speedwell as an air ambulance lands in the world
- An air ambulance landed in Barton Fields close to Speedwell shortly earlier than 2.30pm immediately (Wednesday).
- The helicopter later landed at Southmead Hospital.
- There is a major police presence in the world, with one witness on Facebook saying police had cordoned off a part of New Queen Street.
- Bristol Brunel Academy is in a ‘precautionary lockdown’ because of the incident.
- In a message despatched to oldsters, seen by BristolLive, the school wrote: “Due to an incident in the local people, we have gone right into a precautionary lockdown. We will replace you as quickly as attainable. Kind regards, BBA”.
- In a later message, the school said: “We are nonetheless in a precautionary lockdown following police recommendation. Please don’t worry, this can be a precaution solely and we are ready to listen to additional directions. All employees and college students are secure. We have been suggested by police to stay in lockdown because of the incident in the local people. Staff and college students stay in the Academy and we will await additional updates from police.”
- Photos seen by BristolLive show several police cars within the cordoned area on Charlton Road, while multiple officers have been seen supporting the incident.
