Danny Andrew: Exeter City defender determined to avoid another relegation

The emotions Danny Andrew skilled when he was relegated final season are spurring him on to assist Exeter City survive in League One.

Andrew, 35, was a part of the Cambridge United side relegated to League Two final season.

He joined Exeter in September and has returned to the group this month after being out since November with a calf harm.

With City one place above the relegation spots after a 13-game winless run, Andrew will do every part he can to avoid the scenario he confronted 12 months in the past.

“It’s a horrible situation when it becomes mathematically impossible to stay in the league,” he instructed BBC Radio Devon.

“It’s probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had in football last season.

“You simply really feel such as you’ve let everybody down actually, like your self and everybody shut, the followers, the membership, every part, your teammates.

“So it puts a big fire and an extra added spice into it that I really don’t want to go down again, it’s not great for anyone, so it fuels the passion to achieve keeping Exeter in this league.”
