A capybara that has been on the run since Tuesday after escaping from a zoo has been seen resting within the sunshine together with a river.
Nine-month-old Samba slipped by means of a small hole in a short-term enclosure at Marwell Zoo, close to Winchester, a day after arriving from Suffolk.
People dwelling close by have been checking gardens, ponds, swimming pools and outbuildings after reported sightings of the animal.
On Sunday, Claudie Paddick spotted the capybara by the facet of the River Itchen, close to Winchester, earlier than it was spooked by her dog, jumped within the water and swam off.
Claudie stated she had up to date Marwell Zoo, which was sending groups all the way down to the world.
In an replace on Saturday, the zoo thanked everybody for his or her assist and stated its seek for Samba had continued with the assistance of a specialist dog unit, which had been following her scent.
It added: “This has led us to a reduced search area, not far from where she was originally sighted, which has meant we could better deploy thermal drones to try and locate her.”
